Shamira BANKS, Decor Expert

iLushDecor is the brain child of Shamira Banks. Growing up on the East Coast Shamira was exposed to a melting pot of cultures lending to her own modern-eclectic design style. Over time she taught herself the basics of interior design and eventually her love for design garnered clients all over the U.S. 

“My maternal grandmother, Ms. Clea (aka Ms. Honey) was a natural entertainer. Every weekend there was a party at her house and by the time I was ten, I was her go to assistant. I thought it was events that I loved to do because I live to entertain; but it quickly became clear that I was the designer in the family."

"My mom always worked multiple jobs, so I had the pleasure of decorating, and redecorating our home whenever I wanted. Whenever she did have the opportunity to invite a guest over, they were always amazed that I was responsible for the design."

"By the time I was 13, I was decorating for family members and by 16 I was paid by neighbors and family friends to do their homes. Over the years, my design style has evolved into a brand that is now sought after throughout the United States."

Shamira's set designs have appeared on the stages and pews of churches, stage plays, and movie sets. Her interior designs have spanned the East Coast, Midwest, and Southern states of the US, from 1 bedroom apartments, to celebrity mansions.  There are no limits when it comes to her experience, and expertise.  

“I walk in a room and I immediately see it laid out differently. Sometimes I see multiple layouts. I’m adding lighting to dark areas, or framing windows with curtains. My mind literally sees the room at its best and I cannot help it.  Honestly, I don't want to.  I'm such a design nerd, and I absolutely love it!!”
